About Me

My name is Jacob Harrison. By day I'm a relationship banker at a regional bank and at night I enjoy life with an amazing wife of 10+ years and three awesome kiddos!  I've spent a majority of my life in Mississippi and have had some pretty amazing jobs.

My first job was when I was 10 and 11, I'd price and stock fireworks at the local tents and make a little pocket money during the summer.  During my high school years I got my first real job as a burger flipper at a mom and pop joint. Then, due to an awesome teacher, I got a job editing photos at a studio, lots of fun and my first introduction to the real world.  After that ended I worked for Home Depot into my college years.  I learned a lot from different people who worked different kind of jobs. I also met my wife during this time and it wasn't long before we found out we were pregnant with our first child.  I wasn't even old enough to drink yet, I wasn't raised around kids, I didn't know how to change a diaper, I wasn't ready.  But that started the journey into Dad hood and I've never been the same! When found out my little hourly pay wasn't going to be enough to support a family and found a job with a local party company, setting up and tearing down events.  I really enjoyed it and made some decent money and met a guy who I consider a brother now.  Even though when he came on he stole my promotion, he has been instrumental in my life.

He left that party job and went to work for a small warehouse, shipping and receiving phones. He dragged me along and I really enjoyed that job. Work started to slow and my wife and I found out we were pregnant with our second child.  We ended up moving a little further south where, out of desperation, I got a job driving an 18-wheeler. That was a VERY long month of training and driving and when I finally got home it was just in time to see my son born, how amazing!  Then back on the road with a guy I went to highschool with. We spent a little over 6 months out, coming home every three weeks or so.  This time in our life was very difficult for us a family.  I'd come home and my new child didn't recognize me..it was tough.  Finally we decided it was time I come home and it was at that point that my friend stepped back in. He was able to help me land at job working for T-mobile. I stayed there for 5 years and REALLY enjoyed that job, I found something I was good at, tech and sales!  I was making decent money, life was good for once. We found out we were pregnant with our third child and it was planned this time! Yay!!  Anyways, now I work for the bank. Never thought I would be a banker but it's allowed me a lot more time with the family. Not working retail has made life a lot more fun. I also help my wife with her jewelry business, www.allforHimjewelry.com go check it out!

Now for another personal part. I'm a believer in Jesus Christ.  I was saved when I was much younger and understood what I had done, but didn't know how to live.  Fast forward to just a few years ago.  A man who I love to call Scooba Steve grabbed a hold of me and rocked what I thought was right.  He is a great example of what it means to be a Christ follower and lives that out in his life.  He and I have been through a lot together, we share the weights of this world with each other.  He now is doing what God has called him to do by creating a family retreat center in Holly Springs, MS.  I love watching God answer his prayers for the Messiah Retreat Center.  I pray God continues to bless them.

You'll see that most of my posts will include my faith as well.  My beliefs are a huge part of the way I lead my family.

I love connecting with other dads and hearing ideas about ways to spend more time with families. So any comments are welcomed and I'll be sure to respond.
